Indonesia’s Digital Infrastructure Growth Creates Expansion Opportunities for PT Mandau

Indonesia’s increasing dependence on digital connectivity is driving demand for stronger telecommunications infrastructure.

Internet penetration reached 78.19% in 2023, up from 77.02% in the previous year. However, connectivity remains uneven, with urban areas accounting for a much larger share of internet users than rural locations. This gap creates continued demand for fibre-optic installation, network maintenance, infrastructure optimisation, and managed telecommunications services.

The Indonesian network infrastructure market was estimated to generate approximately $2.01 billion in 2024. It was projected to reach $2.54 billion by 2028, representing a compound annual growth rate of 6.03%.

Several factors are supporting this growth. These include the expansion of 4G and 5G networks, increasing use of cloud services and connected devices, higher demand for reliable internet access, and continued investment in digital infrastructure.

PT Mandau’s Position in the Market

PT Mandau has provided telecommunications network and infrastructure services since 2007. Its work includes managed fibre-optic services, network maintenance and optimisation, network design, infrastructure preparation and round-the-clock support.

The company manages fibre-optic networks across Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan and other parts of Indonesia for major telecommunications infrastructure clients.

Competitor analysis, however, highlights several areas for improvement. Rivals often offer broader services, adopt more advanced technology and maintain stronger market visibility. Mandau’s limited digital presence and narrower service portfolio may reduce its ability to compete for larger projects.

Strengthening Mandau’s Position for Expansion and Investment

Riset Prima Asia assessed Mandau’s expansion opportunities and long-term readiness for external fundraising, including a potential IPO. The work examined market size, industry growth drivers, competitor services, technology capabilities, geographic coverage and financial performance, while identifying where Mandau was well positioned and where it lagged behind larger rivals.

The analysis recommended three practical steps: strengthen Mandau’s market visibility, add more technology-enabled services and expand beyond its existing operating areas. Thus, these measures would broaden its service offering, improve its ability to compete for larger telecommunications projects, and build a stronger case for future investors.
